This video is from Alwyn Cosgrove and the Nike Pro team describing the assessment process they use with their Nike Pro system. The Functional Movement Screen is the primary tool used to determine an athlete’s likelihood of non-contact or movement related injury. Essentially, its a view into how good a player’s foundation really is. We use the FMS extensively and its great to see that a company like Nike has embraced it and has such a great training staff. There’s so much garbage out there with guys claiming to “Train like an NFL Player,” or do “MMA Training,” or my personal favorite “Navy SEAL Workouts,” but when you actually look at what the best are doing when millions are on the line, they trust guys like Alwyn, Mike Boyle, and Eric Cressey.
